Avista Awards Shoshone County for Energy Efficiency
Avista presents $30,230 incentive check for efficiency upgrades to the Shoshone County Courthouse

Jan. 13, 2011:
Upgrades to the historic Shoshone County Courthouse in Wallace, Idaho, have qualified for more than $30,000 in energy efficiency incentives from Avista.  Shoshone County Commissioners Jon Cantamessa and Vince Rinaldi were recently presented with the check by Avista.

Upgrades to the 1906 building included replacing a 38-year-old inefficient boiler with two high-efficiency boilers and replacing 1,944 square feet of old aluminum frame glass windows with high-efficiency double pane glass units.

By incorporating energy efficient systems within the facility, the Courthouse is expected to save 59,427 kilowatt-hours and 5,231 therms of natural gas each year, equating to an expected annual energy savings of $6,549. The energy savings are enough to power about five homes for a year and provide natural gas to six homes for a year.

“The $6,500 in energy savings for Shoshone County will also be a savings for every county taxpayer. This program from Avista presents opportunities for government, businesses, and individuals,” said Shoshone County Commissioner Jon Cantamessa.

Avista offers a variety of energy efficiency rebates, incentives and other energy management tools for residential, commercial and industrial customers. For over three decades Avista has offered the tariff-based programs because generally it costs less to help customers reduce their usage through energy efficiency programs than to acquire additional, more costly energy resources. Information on Avista’s range of energy efficiency programs is available at www.everylittlebit.com.
