Avista Beginning Street Light Maintenance Work in Downtown Lewiston
Main Street traffic from First to Ninth streets will be down to single lane March 30th and 31st between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

March 24, 2011:
Lewiston residents traveling on Main Street from First to Ninth streets on March 30 and 31 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. should add a few extra minutes to their drive time as Avista begins the first of a two-phase project to service street lights in the area.

Traffic control will be down to one lane closure at a time as Avista contract vegetation management crews open a corridor through trees in the area, increasing the reliability of the street lights. The tree work could continue on Monday, April 4, if additional time is required to complete the project. Parking on Main Street from First to Ninth streets will be restricted during the vegetation management work.

The second-phase of the project will begin at a later date when Avista crews will upgrade the circuits on the street lights along Main Street.

“We recognize that this necessary work will have an impact on residents and businesses in the area and we apologize for the inconvenience,” said Glenn Logsdon, Avista’s operations manager for the Lewiston and Clarkston area. “The work will be done as quickly and safely as possible to minimize the impact.”

The upgrades to the existing street lights in downtown Lewiston are expected to cost nearly $12,000 and are part of Avista’s on-going work to ensure the reliability of its electric delivery system.
