Avista customers looking to upgrade home appliances can pair up new federally-funded statewide rebate programs with existing Avista rebates for additional savings on qualifying Energy Star appliances.
Cash for Appliances is Washington’s new rebate program and Idaho’s is the Appliance Rebate Program. Covered appliances vary, so customers should be sure to check each state’s website for a list of qualifying appliances. Avista also offers rebates from $20 to $50 for Energy Star refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and clothes washers.
“With additional rebates and incentives available at the state level, now is a good time to think about upgrading to more energy efficient appliances. Customers who upgrade can earn cash now and will continue saving energy and costs with their new, more efficient appliance,” said Bruce Folsom, Avista’s director of energy efficiency. “These programs help everyone in some way, since the cost of saving energy is typically less than the cost of acquiring new generation.”
Washington’s Cash for Appliances program provides rebates to consumers for upgrading to energy efficient clothes washers and refrigerators. Rebates are available on a first come, first served basis as long as funds last. For more information and to download forms, visit www.cashforapplianceswa.com.
To qualify for a Cash for Appliances refrigerator rebate, the program requires consumers to recycle their old unit. Avista’s Refrigerator Recycling Program offers customers a $30 rebate, plus free pick up and recycling of old freezers and refrigerators. Avista customers do not need to participate in the Cash for Appliances program in order to receive the Refrigerator Recycling rebate. Information on all of Avista’s rebate and incentive programs, including refrigerator recycling, can be found on www.avistautilities.com.
Idaho residents can qualify for the Idaho Appliance Rebate Program, offered through the Office of Energy Resources, when replacing older, working appliances with an eligible Energy Star appliance. A list of eligible appliances and information can be found at the Office of Energy Resources website at www.energy.idaho.gov/stimulus/appliance_rebate.htm. Information on all of Avista’s rebate and incentive programs, including refrigerator recycling which is also available to Idaho customers, can be found on www.avistautilities.com.
