Avista Crews Rise to Their Biggest Challenge Since Ice Storm 1996
Any customers without power are asked to call Avista at (800) 227-9187

SPOKANE, Wash. – Dec. 18, 2006, 4:00 p.m.: Power has been restored in record time to nearly all of the more than 50,000 customers impacted by the recent wind storm. We request that any customers still without power to call Avista at (800) 227-9187 to let us know. Customers calling in are asked to stay on the line and follow the prompts to complete your outage report.

Avista’s customer contact center received over 41,000 calls during a three day period –more than twice the normal call volume. The majority of the calls were handled by the integrated voice response (IVR) system, which helped identify the outage areas, speed restoration efforts and provide customers with outage information.

Crews are still working on about 400 scattered outages, primarily in the Hayden area, and will continue working until power has been restored.
