Avista Customers in Washington Offered Additional Rebates through Cash for Appliances Program
Washington State program enters second phase to help residents access new rebates for energy saving appliances and systems

Aug. 6, 2010:
New rebates are available to Avista customers looking to upgrade home appliances and heating/cooling systems with the expansion of Cash for Appliances, Washington State’s federally-funded statewide rebate program. Customers are encouraged to pair state-issued rebates with existing Avista rebates to save energy and money.

In addition to still offering rebates to upgrade to energy efficient clothes washers and refrigerators, Cash for Appliances has expanded its rebate offerings to also include rebates for energy efficient dishwashers, electric heat pump water heaters, gas storage and gas tankless water heaters, and ductless heat pumps. Rebates are still available on a first come, first served basis as long as funds last. New rebate offerings cover purchases after June 28, 2010.

Customers should pair Cash for Appliances rebates with those offered by Avista ranging from $20 to $200 for Energy Star refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and clothes washers, as well as ductless heat pumps and water heaters.

“To date Cash for Appliances has paid out more than $1 million in rebate funds to Washington residents, with a number of Avista customers benefiting from the rebates,” said Bruce Folsom, Avista’s director of energy efficiency. “We encourage our customers in Washington and Idaho to take advantage of every rebate available because making the move to high efficiency appliances and home equipment can help reduce the amount of energy a home uses.”

Idaho residents can still qualify for the Idaho Appliance Rebate Program when replacing older, working appliances with an eligible Energy Star appliance.
