Avista Employee Dies in Tragic Accident in Othello
Teacher injured in accident

Spokane, Wash.: An Avista Utilities employee died today in an accident that occurred in Othello, Wash. The employee and a teacher from Hiawatha Elementary School were in an elevated bucket of a boom truck, participating in a community event when the bucket fell to the ground.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Avista is on the scene and assisting with the investigation.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the families, the community and our employees during this difficult time,” said Scott Morris, Avista president and chief operating officer. “We will work with the school and the Othello community to provide whatever support is needed.”
