Avista Partners With Second Harvest to Provide Vital Community Services

April 30, 2013: – Two Spokane organizations have joined forces to meet the
community where they are. Avista  and Second Harvest have come together to make vital services more accessible to the Spokane community. Avista’s mobile Energy Resource Team and Second Harvest will be at a number of locations around the community through the month of May and beyond, bringing food and energy assistance into neighborhoods throughout our city. By making these services more accessible to residents, both organizations hope to expand their reach in the community.

“Both Avista and Second Harvest share a common belief that it is important to assist those in need,” said Ana Matthews, consumer affairs program manager at Avista. “Providing vital services like food and energy management are causes that both of our organizations are proud to support in the Spokane community.”

The Avista Energy Resource Team helps residential customers better-manage energy costs by providing information on various payment options, web-based tools and low-cost to no-cost weatherization products and tips. They also connect customers to assistance programs.

To demonstrate the Avista energy resource van and its capabilities, Avista is inviting media to attend an event on May 10th at Contract Based Education in Spokane Valley. This is an open, public event where Avista expects to serve many customers.

Where: Contract Based Education
 115 S. University
 Spokane Valley, WA

When: Friday, May 10th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
