Avista Schedules Outage in Spirit Lake for Thursday, Oct. 19
Crews will work on upgrades to substation serving Spirit Lake

SPOKANE, Wash. – Oct. 18, 2006: Approximately 1,300 Avista customers in Spirit Lake and the surrounding area, including both sides of the lake, will experience a disruption in their electrical service on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, from 2:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. as Avista crews work on upgrades to the substation serving the area.

Avista is doubling the capacity of its substation located at 10th Ave. and Washington in Spirit Lake in order to meet projected customer growth in the area over the next 10 years.

“Avista is committed to delivering energy safely and reliably. This substation upgrade will serve the customers in this growing area for many years,�? said Marc Schaffner, Avista operations manager. “We realize a service interruption can be inconvenient, but encourage customers with special considerations to make alternative arrangements during this time frame.�?

Schaffner said a second planned outage will be necessary in November so that work on the $400,000 project can be completed.
