Avista Takes Precautionary Measures Due to Dry Weather Conditions
SPOKANE, Wash. July 11, 2007: Avista is undertaking temporary changes to power line operations in response to very dry conditions in our region.

Spokane, Wash.: These temporary changes are being made to decrease potential fire danger that could occur by reenergizing a downed power line in an unknown condition. These lines, typically those located in rural and/or forested areas, will no longer be reenergized automatically. Instead, line personnel may have to physically patrol the outage area before the line is placed back into service.

These changes cannot guarantee or eliminate a fire. The changes to Avista’s rural/forested lines may result in some additional outages and if an outage does occur it will take longer to reenergize the line and restore power.

Avista will return the distribution system to normal as soon as weather permits. Avista appreciates the patience of its customers during this time.
