Avista Working to Safely Restore Power to Customers
Idaho service area most impacted by wind

Spokane, Wash.: SPOKANE, Wash. – Feb. 7, 2008, 10:45 a.m.: At this time 2,317 Avista customers are without power due to today’s winter storm. The majority of outages are in the areas of Lewiston-Clarkston (1,227), Sandpoint (223) and St. Maries (713). The remaining outages are widely scattered throughout the region. Restoration time is unknown at this time.

It is important that customers remain alert to the possibility of downed power lines and to report any sightings to Avista at (800) 227-9187.

Avista continues to urge customers to remove snow from utility meters and appliance vents. The excessive weight from recent snow fall can damage the meters and cause problems for homeowners. Also, make sure exterior vents are clear of snow. Direct-vent appliances need an uninterrupted supply of fresh air and a clear exhaust path in order to work safely and efficiently.
