Avista Wrapping Up Restoration Work from Monday Morning Storm
Customers still without power are asked to call Avista at (800) 227-9187

SPOKANE, Wash. – Nov. 14, 2006, 4:00 p.m. PST: Avista anticipates having power restored tonight to the final 95 customers who lost service from the Monday morning storm that moved through the region. Any customer still without power is asked to call Avista at (800) 227-9187.

At the height of Monday’s outage, Avista had approximately 20,000 customers in its eastern Washington and northern Idaho service area without power - about 60 percent were returned to service within five hours. Avista’s customer contact center fielded almost 16,000 customer calls on Monday which is more than three times the normal volume.

Al Fisher, Avista’s director of operations, said 63 company crews and numerous support personnel aided in the restoration effort.

“We appreciate the patience of our customers during this outage and for the outstanding effort our employees put forth to get customers back in service as quickly and safely as possible. Considering the extent of the damage, it was an amazing effort,” Fisher said.
