Avista helps Josephine County realize energy savings
Equipment upgrades qualify for $7,500 in energy efficiency incentives from Avista

Oct. 30, 2012: Taking advantage of energy efficiency incentives offered by Avista is helping one Josephine County building use less natural gas which positively impacts their energy bill.

A new condensing boiler and condensing water heater were recently installed in the Justice Building. Both capture combustion gas that previously would be vented outside. The gas is then reused to heat water, reducing the amount of natural gas needed. By installing the new high-efficiency equipment, Josephine County qualifies for $7,500 in energy efficiency incentives from Avista.

The result is the high-efficiency equipment is expected to save the county over 4,000 therms a year and almost $5,000 a year in energy costs. That’s enough to provide seven homes with natural gas for a year.

"Avista has been a great partner with Josephine County to reduce our use of energy and become more efficient to save the county money. As technology improves, we want to continue to undertake similar projects in the future to become more efficient and reduce costs," said Simon Hare, Josephine County commissioner.
Steve Vincent, Avista’s Oregon regional business manager, is presenting the $7,500 incentive check to Josephine County Commissioners at their meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 9:00 a.m., at the Ann Baskers Auditorium, 604 NW 6th Ave, in Grants Pass.
Residential, commercial and industrial customers can take advantage of a number of energy efficiency programs Avista offers as a tool to help them reduce their energy use and costs. For over three decades Avista has offered the tariff-based programs because it generally costs less to help customers reduce their usage through energy efficiency programs than to acquire additional, more costly energy resources.
