Feb. 1, 2011: Avista has named Mike Tatko as regional business manager for the Lewis/Clark service territory. In his new role, Tatko will be responsible for external relations strategies to enhance business opportunities and community partnerships. Current Regional Business Manager Mike Thomason, will retire on
March 1, 2011.
Previously, Tatko was manager of media and public relations for Regence, a health insurance company in the northwest and intermountain states. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho in print journalism as well as prior experience working as a writer for the Lewiston Morning Tribune.
“Mike’s dedication to the community aligns with Avista’s commitment to serve our customers and communities. His experience and enthusiasm will be a great addition to our company,” said Dennis Vermillion, president of Avista Utilities.
Tatko, a Craigmont, Idaho, native, serves on the board of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Foundation and the Holy Family Catholic School Advisory Council. He also serves as the executive vice-president of Valley Vision, an economic development organization based in Lewiston.
Retiring Regional Business Manager Mike Thomason has been with Avista for 33 years. He started his career as a meter reader and worked his way into a variety of customer service, construction management and area manager positions. Thomason will remain in his position until March 1, 2011, to allow for a smooth transition of the job.

made throughout his 33 years at Avista. He is a talented leader and will be remembered for his dedication and commitment to serving our customers and our communities,” said Vermillion.
