Avista to Assist with Search for Missing Man
Subject is believed to have drowned in Spokane River

Spokane, Wash.: Avista will adjust river flows in downtown Spokane on Thursday morning to assist law enforcement with a search for the body of a man who is believed to have drowned on June 21 while running from authorities.

Avista will draw down the water level above the Upper Falls Hydroelectric Project by approximately two feet. Then the flow will be slowed to allow the Spokane City County Dive Team to conduct its search. The search will take place below the Post Street Bridge above the Monroe Street Hydroelectric Project spillway. The team is expected to search for approximately 30-60 minutes. After the divers are out of the water, the river flow will be restored.

Early morning Riverfront park visitors may notice a temporary drop in the water level starting about 6 a.m. Flows should be back to normal by 10 a.m.
