Avista to Burn Off Natural Gas Line on Tuesday, June 12
Residents and motorists in the vicinity of 9100 North Market may see flames during operation

Spokane, Wash.: Avista will be doing a controlled burning of odorized natural gas on Tuesday, June 12, from approximately 5:30 a.m. until 6:15 a.m. in the 9100 block of North Market Street in Spokane. Residents and motorists in the vicinity may see flames during the burn-off; however, there will be no cause for concern. No customers will be impacted.

Avista is conducting the natural gas burn-off as the company temporarily removes a distribution pipeline from operation while construction continues on the North/South Freeway.

All natural gas customers are reminded to observe normal safety precautions if they smell gas inside the home or place of business.

If you smell or hear gas

. Open outside doors and windows, if possible.
. Telephone Avista from a neighbor's phone.

If you hear the sound of escaping gas, follow these steps:
. Evacuate everyone in your home or building.
. Telephone Avista immediately from a neighbor's phone.
. Don't go back inside your home or building until Avista says it is safe.
. Keep others away from the area.
