Oct. 17, 2011: The Lewis-Clark Valley Avista Energy Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Walla Walla Community College, 1470 Bridge Street, Clarkston, Wash. The event will be filled with demonstrations and interactive workshops on ways to keep homes warm and safe this winter. Avista customer service representatives will be available to share information about billing assistance options. In addition, community organizations, including Community Action Partnership, Consumer Credit Counseling, Aging and Long-term Care , the YWCA, WorkSource, and Walla Wall Community College are scheduled to be on hand to answer questions about energy assistance, weatherization, family care giving, childcare, job training and other topics.

Free admission to the event includes access to all demonstrations, free samples of energy efficiency materials, complimentary food and beverages, and door prizes.

“Our customers have asked for help in managing their energy use and costs this winter. The Energy Fair will offer a broad range of ideas and demonstrations that will help residents keep the warm air inside and the cold air outside their homes,” said Mike Tatko, Avista’s regional business manager for the Lewis-Clark region. “The event provides a great way for customers to conveniently access Avista’s many services, as well as valuable community services. Information about payment options, energy assistance and energy efficiency will be especially helpful to those struggling to pay their bills.”

Fair attendees can speak with Avista staff and learn first-hand about low-cost and no-cost energy efficiency tips. They’ll see how to install such things as rope caulk, window plastic and door sweeps. And following each demonstration, Avista employees will answer questions and provide free samples of each item used in the demonstration.

For the kids, and the kids at heart, Wattson, Avista’s Energy Watchdog, will guide attendees through fun, energy-focused crafts and presentations of his musical message of energy efficiency and safety.
Avista Utilities will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Please contact Lisa at (509) 495-8024 or email lisa.lee@avistacorp.com if accommodations are needed.
