Spokane’s West Central-area is the location for the Avista Energy Fair
scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the West Central Community Center, 1603 North Belt. The event will be filled with demonstrations on ways to keep homes warm and safe this winter. Avista employees will be available to share information about billing assistance and payment options. In addition, community organizations, including SNAP
, Second Harvest
, Money Management International
are scheduled to be on hand to answer questions and provide helpful information about weatherization programs, food bank services, budgeting and financial assistance, job search programs and more.
Free admission to the event includes all demonstrations, free samples of energy efficiency materials, complimentary food and beverages, and door prizes.
“Each year our customers ask for help in managing their energy use and costs during the winter. The Energy Fair will offer a broad range of ideas and demonstrations that will help residents keep the warm air inside and the cold air outside their homes,” said Anne Marie Axworthy, Avista’s director of consumer affairs. “This event provides a great way for customers to conveniently access Avista’s many services, as well as valuable community services. Information about payment options
, energy assistance
and energy efficiency
will be especially helpful to those struggling to pay their bills.”
Fair attendees can speak with Avista staff and learn first-hand about low-cost and no-cost energy efficiency tips. They’ll see how to install such things as rope caulk, window plastic and door sweeps. And following each demonstration, Avista employees will answer questions and provide free samples of each item used in the demonstration.
For the kids, and the kids at heart, Wattson, Avista’s Energy Watchdog
, will guide attendees through fun, energy-focused crafts and presentations of his musical message of energy efficiency and safety.
