Avista to Shut Down Post Falls Generation for Repairs to Transmission System
Boaters warned that spill gates will be open for several hours

Spokane Wash. Oct. 29, 2007 - Avista will conduct repair work to transmission facilities at the Post Falls Hydroelectric Project on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from approximately 12:30 – 6:00 a.m. This will require a shutdown of the plant’s generating units and spill gates will be open to maintain downstream river levels while the work is underway.


Boaters are warned to avoid the area above the dam. As required by law, the boat ramp at Q’emiln Park will be closed for the duration of the spill. Outages are not anticipated as a result of this project.

Kootenai Electric Cooperative will also be conducting maintenance work on its transmission system during the plant shut down.
