Avista wraps up storm restoration with all customers back in service
Final customers restored at 3:45 a.m. today

Nov. 27, 2015, 11:30 a.m.: Avista crews made tremendous progress Thanksgiving and overnight with the final customers impacted by the historic wind storm returned to service at 3:45 this morning. Contract and mutual aid crews from six western states and British Columbia who assisted Avista in the restoration work have demobilized and returned to their homes.

At the height of the storm, 180,000 or nearly 50 percent of Avista electric customers lost power, with the overwhelming majority in Spokane County.

“I’m extremely grateful for our customers’ patience and perseverance throughout this unprecedented storm,” said Avista Chairman, President and CEO Scott Morris. “The outpouring of support for the crews who worked round-the-clock to restore service has been amazing and very much appreciated. On this day after Thanksgiving, I am truly thankful for their commitment to working until power was restored to every customer and to all of our employees who played a role in the restoration effort.”

The Outage Center on Avista’s website at www.avistautilities.com provides information on all power outages occurring in the company’s Washington and Idaho service area. Outages that may be appearing on the site at this time are not related to the Nov. 17 wind storm.
