Children’s emergency room at Providence Sacred Heart to receive $50,000 from the Avista Foundation
Additional foundation grants will aid programs in Washington, Idaho and Oregon

Oct. 4, 2012: The stress and worry of taking a child to the hospital emergency room can be compounded when the wait for medical attention is hours and the waiting room is crowded to overflowing. Providence Sacred Heart Hospital and Children’s Hospital are planning an expansion of their tier 1 emergency facility and the construction of a separate pediatric emergency center. The Avista Foundation will make a donation of $50,000 to this project.

“We are very pleased that Avista will be joining with the Rypien Foundation and other community leaders in the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center Emergency Department expansion project,” said Joyce M. Cameron, chief development officer, Providence Health Care Foundation. “As a result of this campaign, we will be able to provide emergency medical care for present and future children, provide separate patient waiting areas and treatment rooms for children and adults with appropriate surroundings, equipment and medications, and increased parking facilities.”

“The way the health and wellness of our community are managed is a direct indicator of the vitality of our region. Partnering with others to enhance healthcare for children and their families is an important focus for the Avista Foundation and the support we provide to the communities we serve,” said Anne Marie Axworthy, president of the Avista Foundation.
