Montana Food Network Receives Annual Grant from Avista
Support will benefit the Sanders County food banks

Dec. 20, 2010
:  Avista and the Avista Foundation have made annual grants totaling $24,500 to 39 food banks within its service territory. A grant of $2,040 has been made to the Montana Food Network in support of the six food banks in Sanders County, Mont. Funding for these grants comes from shareholder funds and is not charged to customers through retail rates.

Through buying power and relationships with food producers, the food banks are able to leverage donations to bring several times their value to help stock the shelves for those in need. We are always impressed with the wonderful work that goes on in the community food banks in our service territory,” said Anne Marie Axworthy, president of Avista Foundation. “Helping limited income families and seniors meet their nutritional needs is an important part of Avista’s and Avista Foundation’s emphasis on providing assistance and helping to reduce poverty in the communities served by Avista Utilities.”
