Oregon non-profits receive special year-end donations from Avista

Jan. 10, 2011
: Avista today announced special year-end 2010 contributions totaling $10,000 to human care service programs serving citizens in its service areas in Oregon. Two non-profit, human care service organizations received funds to support their core programs that benefit the most vulnerable citizens in the company’s service area: the Boys & Girls Club of the Rogue Valley with six program branches located in Phoenix, Cave Junction, Shady Cove, Grants Pass, Talent and White City; and Food & Friends, a meals on wheels and senior meals program serving Jackson and Josephine counties. Each organization received $5,000. Funding for these contributions comes from Avista shareholder dollars and is not charged to customers through retail rates.

“The agencies receiving this support are truly providing safety net services to those individuals, families and youngsters most in need,” said Dennis Vermillion, president of Avista Utilities. “We are committed to being active partners in the communities we serve, and an important part of that commitment is providing support to the agencies that are making a difference for those who are most vulnerable.”

Avista’s 2010 giving through the Avista Foundation and company donations totaled $2.2 million for organizations throughout its three state service territory.
