Planned Outage Will Interrupt Electric Service for Avista Customers in Helmer, Bovill and Elk River

Aug. 31, 2011: Avista is advising customers in Helmer, Bovill and Elk River of a planned power outage that will interrupt electric service on Thursday, Sept. 1. The five hour outage will begin at 11:00 p.m. and is expected to last until 4:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2.

About 550 customers will be impacted while Avista crews energize the company’s new Deary substation which serves the area. Replacing a 1950s-era wood substation, the new steel substation has updated equipment that will improve reliability and meet the growing energy needs of customers.

“We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers and encourage those with special considerations to make alternative arrangements during this time frame. Our crews will work as quickly and safely as possible so that customers will have their service restored with minimum inconvenience,” said Jenny Blaylock, Avista’s operations manager for Whitman and Latah counties.
