Post Falls Boat Ramp Temporarily Closed
Wet weather conditions require spilling water at Post Falls Dam

Avista Utilities will re-open the spill gates at the Post Falls Hydroelectric Development. Under city regulations, the boat ramp at Q’emiln (Ka-mee-lin) Park on the Spokane River must be closed for safety reasons whenever the spill gates are open.

The boat ramp was opened on June 12 but recent storms have sharply increased river flows into Coeur d’Alene Lake. Current conditions require the release of additional water to control water levels.

Avista expects to stop spilling water in about one week and the boat ramp can then re-open weather permitting. The lake level is normally maintained at 2,128 ft. above sea level through Labor Day.
