Sanders County youth programs receive grant funds from Avista

June 1, 2012: Six youth programs in western Montana received support in the first round of grants from the Avista Fund in the Montana Community Foundation for 2012. The grants are intended to directly benefit youth organizations in and around Sanders County, Montana.

In 2009, Avista started the Avista Fund with the Montana Community Foundation as part of its ongoing commitment to the communities around its Clark Fork project, which includes Noxon Rapids and Cabinet Gorge Dams on the Clark Fork River. In 2012, up to $10,000 will be granted to qualified local youth organizations. The second of two rounds of grants will take place in October.

Funding for these grants comes from company profits and is not part of the rates paid by customers.

“Avista is dedicated to continuing our support of youth organizations in Sanders County and western Bonner County,” said Clark Fork License Manager Tim Swant. “Many of these programs would not exist without the efforts of so many volunteers and the financial support from donations. We’re pleased to continue our 60-year tradition of being a committed community member.”
