Snake River Community Clinic Purchase Will Enable Service to More People
Avista Foundation $4,500 grant supports the Dental Safety Net Clinic

The Snake River Community Clinic in Lewiston, Idaho, can now provide dental services to more people in need following the purchase of a dental equipment sterilizer. The Dental Safety Net Clinic opened in May 2009 and provides vital dental service two weeks per month, seeing an average 24 people per month in the first five months. The community clinic provides medical and dental care to uninsured, area residents through a volunteer staff of providers.

“Prior to receiving the $4,500 grant from the Avista Foundation we had to borrow a smaller dental equipment sterilizer for limited hours each week. Having our own sterilizer means we can see about two more people each week or 100 more each year,” said Charlotte M. Ash, director of the Snake River Clinic. “We are honored to work with the Avista Foundation in providing much-needed services to vulnerable populations in our area.”

“There is an increasing need for medical and dental care in the L-C Valley. As a community partner, we’re pleased to be able to help such a worthy organization expand their services to help more residents,” said Mike Thomason, Avista’s regional business manager for the Lewiston-Clarkston area.

Over 5,500 people have received basic medical care, medications and medical supplies at the community clinic since its founding in October 2000. For more information about the Snake River Community Clinic, please go to http://www.srcc-freeclinic.org.
