Students create energy efficiency awareness videos, earn grants from Avista
Students create short videos to show how every little bit adds up for energy savings

Feb. 21, 2012: High school students in Avista’s three-state service area recently put their talent and creativity into action in Avista’s third annual Every Little Bit Video Contest. By creating short videos demonstrating the importance of energy efficiency practices and its benefit for the environment, students earned technology grants for their high schools.

North Idaho Christian student Brian Pfau is the 2011 Grand Prize winner for his “One Green World” video. North Idaho Christian School, in Hayden, Idaho, will receive a $2,500 technology grant from Avista.

"North Idaho Christian School is very blessed by Brian Pfau's grand prize winning entry in Avista's Every Little Bit Video Contest," said Cal Booth, North Idaho Christian School administrator. "As a Christian school with a limited budget, the $2,500 technology grant will be wisely used to upgrade our current capabilities for our students. Thanks Avista, for sponsoring this contest. We are proud of Brian and his creative gifting."

Zane Bickham, Patrick Old and Aneesh Pappu of Pullman High School in Pullman, Wash., are the 2011 Viewer’s Choice Award winners for their film, “Dreaming Of A Cleaner World.” Their school will receive a $1,500 technology grant from Avista.

Runner-up and honorable mention award winners are from East Valley High School in Spokane Valley, Wash., and Pullman High School. View the top six videos at http://www.everylittlebit.com/videocontest.aspx.

“It's inspiring to see the creativity, energy and attention to detail that has gone into making these videos," said Patrick Lynch, Avista's director of energy solutions. "It was remarkable to see how each team took the idea of energy efficiency and shaped it into a meaningful message that was ingenious and fresh. The judges did not have an easy task."

Nearly 50 videos were submitted for judging. Students promoted their videos and viewers were able to vote for their favorites online at http://www.everylittlebitvideo.com/.
