Check presentation and photo opportunity to be hosted by Avista for grant recipients on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. MST at Minnie’s, 921 Main Street in Thompson Falls, Montana.

Nov. 4, 2011: Six youth programs in western Montana will receive support in the second round of grants being made from the Avista Fund in the Montana Community Foundation. The grants are intended to directly benefit youth organizations in and around Sanders County, Montana.

In 2009, Avista started the Avista Fund with the Montana Community Foundation as part of its ongoing commitment to being a good neighbor in the communities around its Clark Fork hydroelectric project, which includes Noxon Rapids and Cabinet Gorge Dams on the Clark Fork River. Funding for these grants comes from company profits and  is not included as a cost to customers in developing retail rates.

Avista began awarding grants from the fund in spring 2011. Organizations that received funding in the first round of grants include Dixon Public Schools, Hot Springs High School, Noxon School District, Noxon Youth Baseball, Sanders County Extension, Trout Creek School District and Noxon Rod and Gun Club.
“Avista is proud to support the local communities and youth programs in and around Sanders County,” said Tim Swant, license manager for Avista’s Clark Fork hydroelectric project.
